The daily slides presentations are labeled by class name, week, and day of the week. For instance, with the label GOV2-1, the two tells you it is a slide show we used during the second week and the one tells you it was the first slide show of that week.

Week 10 – State Government
In this week we cover the basics of the three branches of our city government and focus our attention on a particular case in city council. We also pay special attention to the head of our city government, our Mayor.
Some of the activities we complete this week include:
- Reading assignment: pages 294-303 in the blue Civics textbook.
- Then answering questions 2a, 2b, and 3b on page 297, then 2b, 3a, 5a, and 5b on page 303.
- Reading assignment: pages 305-313 in the blue Civics textbook.
- Then answering questions 2a, 4a, and 4b on page 309, then 1, 4a and 4b on page 313.

- Getting familiar with our city government through the CABQ website and Google News. Directions for the CABQ Web Quest can be found through this link.
- In-class reading, video and discussion. Discussion can be made up by writing a short response to the story and video. The short response should summarize the main information from the article and your opinion on the information. Check Slide presentations 11-1, 11-2, and 11-3 for links and more information. (50 points)
- A Jeopardy Review

- All students will be assigned a position in government to run for. Students will need to create a campaign speech, poster, and participate in a debate with a peer that is also running for that same office.

Weeks 13 - 15
Week 13 – Contemporary Legislation
- On Monday and Tuesday we are looking at summaries of four key pieces of modern legislation: No Child Left Behind, The Patriot Act, The Affordable Care Act, and the Dream Act. Notes on these pieces of legislation will be graded (50 points)
- We will also have a reading on the four common reasons for legislation: Safety, Freedom, Order, and Morality. Notes on this will be very useful on this week's quiz.
- We will have a video review on Thursday. (25 points)
